Hi.

Make Your Own Shine Spray

Make Your Own Shine Spray

Have you ever read the labels on some of your favorite grooming products? I made that mistake the other day and realized just how many nasty, toxic chemicals there are lurking in the products we use on our horses everyday as well the fact that we absorb and breathe in those chemicals while grooming.

I have begun switching out some of my grooming products with healthier alternatives and decided to attempt to make my own shine spray with all the good stuff that will moisturize and smooth my horse’s coat without all the nasty stuff. After a bit of experimenting I think I have really created a great shine spray. After a few weeks of use I have noticed my horses are super shiny even when they are dusty and haven’t had a rinse or bath in a few days and their manes and tails seem softer, with less tangles. It contains super moisturizers argan oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil and vegetable glycerin (which also helps with breakage). I also added in witch hazel for it’s anti-inflammatory properties that help heal big bites and scrapes as well as clear up crud and tea tree oil because it is a natural antiseptic and fly repellant.

The One Fine Bay Shine Spray:

Grab an empty spray bottle and add the following

2 tbs Fractionated Coconut Oil

2 tsp Vegetable Glycerin

1 tsp Witch Hazel

4 pumps Jojoba Oil

4-5 droppers Argan Oil

10 drops Tea Tree Oil

Fill the rest of the bottle with water and shake well before each use.

You can purchase all the ingredients from Amazon and make sure you use pure organic ingredients. Here’s to shiny, happy ponies!

Shooter’s super shiny hair coat that is usually very dry and dull after the summer. Sorry for the bad angle, he was way too interested in coming to see me than to stand still for a picture.
