Going Tech

Going Tech

Everything is going high-tech and even though horses and barns are not the most technical of areas there are still a few items that can make your ban life easier and more fun. Here a few of my favorite tech items I like to have in the barn.

Santa brought me a SirisXM Radio Receiver for the barn this Christmas and I love it! There a million different (commercial free) music channels to listen to and I can even listen to my beloved NFL Channel without wearing down the battery of my phone. It’s the little things that can bring a lot of joy and great music while cleaning the barn is one of those little things.

Ever wish you could watch your rides back and see any changes or improvements but don’t always have someone there to record you? The Pivo Pod Active does just that. Pair your phone to it, attach it to a bendable tripod, attach it to the arena fence, turn it on and let the pivo do the work. Voila the perfect riding companion and camera crew all in one!

I love my JBL Clip 4 Portable Speaker! This lightweight, waterproof, bluetooth speaker has a carabiner clip attached to it, that allows you to clip or hang it anywhere. I clip mine to a hook in my arena, pair it with my phone and then blast great music while riding. It keeps me from having to carry my phone with me while I ride and for such little thing it has great sound that can be super loud. You can also clip it to a beach bag or book bag and take it and your music wherever you go.

I have talked about how handy it is to have a thermometer in the barn and I still can’t imagine not having one. It is a super cheap and easy item to have hanging around. It takes all the guesswork out of should horses have their blankets on or off, if you can’t be there to make that decisions. I just tell my barn help if the thermometer says it is above 60 degrees in the barn to take the blankets off or vice versa, below 60 put on blankets. The thermometer is just one handy little thing that can help. It’s magnetic backing allows me to just stick it to the side of stall. This is the newest version of the one I use.

Hope these fun tech gadgets can make your barn time easier and more enjoyable. Now if only there was a stall cleaning robot!
