Equine Elixirs Tummy Gummies

Equine Elixirs has recently released Tummy Gummies, an amazing, first of it’s kind, new product that will be a game changer for horses. Tummy Gummies are essentially TUMS (antacids) for horses. They combine calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide into a treat-like gummie that begins buffering acid on contact. Horses can produce up to 16 gallons of acid a day and stressful situations like horse shows, trailering, staying in new places or even just riding can make that worse, leading to discomfort and ulcers.

What makes these so unique is their small, gummie structure. Most antacids for horses come in powder form and have to be fed during feeding time and let’s be honest are often left in the bottom of the feeder. The Tummy Gummies can be fed at any time, so you can give them when your horse most needs that instant acid buffering. You can give your horse a few while tacking up, before loading in the trailer or ringside before your class.

The gummies start neutralizing acid on contact and reach peak buffering capacity within 15 minutes. When feeding four at a time the peak buffering effects will last approximately 45 minutes. It’s perfectly safe to feed additional gummies after that time to extend it.

I love the idea of having such an easy to use item to give my horses during shows or when I haul to my trainer’s for a lesson. I have used these with Dreamer a few times and it really seems to help him be less girthy and more calm. He is a little bit picky about treats but gobbled these up right away. If you have a picky horse who won’t eat them just squish them in two halves of a German Horse Muffin and they will eat them.

I think these would be great for horses who are also on stall rest and/or taking medications that can irritate their stomach. Obviously talk to your vet and see what they think first. The Tummy Gummies are very low in sugar and safe to give to metabolic horses. They are also horse show safe.

They are available in two flavors (peppermint and carrot) and are $24 for 110 gummies. To learn more or purchase some Tummy Gummies go to EquineElixirs.com.
